In many countries, guests of restaurants, aquatics centers, sport studios, hair salons etc. must have their personal data recorded and processed as part of the ongoing Corona protection and safety measures since May 2020.
As a guest you must leave your personal contact data:
- name, home address, e-mail address and/or telephone number.
The visited company records your so-called movement data:
- date and time of your visit.
So, each visited company knows all your stays, your name and where you live. Of course, the registration serves a good purpose, means contact tracing in case of a possible corona infection chain.
MyOwns offers a much better way since your data is yours!
The principle
Das MyOwns Prinzip
MyOwns replaces the simultaneous collection of your personal contact and movement data with a pseudonymous collection of your movement data alone. How does that work?
Step 1: MyOwns Registration
You register online with MyOwns. There you enter your contact information once. MyOwns will then create a personal 8-digit alphanumeric code, which you can use for guest registration.
Step 2 and 3: Check in/out
You show your MyOwns QR Code when you enter and preferably also when you leave a business like a restaurant or gym. You can easily call up your personal with the MyOwns App. The operator (e.g. a waiter) captures your code by scanning the QR Code from your cell phone - fast, easy, and clean without a pen and paper.
Note: your MyOwns Code will be displayed in plain text and as a scannable QR Code under "my codes" when logged in. Alternatively, you download the MyOwns App and use your QR Code even offline.
QR CODE - DO I HAVE TO USE A CELL PHONE?
No. Alternatively, you can show a printed QR Code. You can purchase practical adhesive or textile labels, business cards, luggage or key tags with your personal code in the MyOwns Shop.
DATA - WHAT DATA ARE COLLECTED WHEN YOU SHOW IT?
When you present your QR Code in a company (e.g. restaurant or gym), the system will record your MyOwns Code, as well as the date and time. In case a company records your code when you enter and leave the store, the system will store the exact time of your stay. Those transaction data get transferred and stored fully encrypted on a MyOwns server in Germany. MyOwns does not know the encryption key, only the company which scanned your code does, but they do not know your personal data. Transactional and personal data are disconnected and gets linked in case of a corona infection tracing.
OPERATIONS - WHERE CAN I USE THE MYOWNS CODE?
The MyOwns Guest Registration is still a new, young procedure for digital guest registration. We hope that more and more guests and businesses will participate. You can derive from the red MyOwns logo at the entrance of the establishment whether digital registration with a MyOwns code is accepted - or you can simply ask.
COSTS - WHAT DOES THE SERVICE COST ME?
Registration and use of all MyOwns services are free of charge, including the digital guest registration. There are no hidden costs, no ads, no spam.
DATA PROTECTION - WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DATA?
All data are stored on a German server following the high German standard for data protection. During the onetime registration, we securely store your con-tact information. Only MyOwns can access this data. No other company has access to your personal data.
When a company scans your QR Codes during your stay, we store the transac-tion data, i.e. your MyOwns code as well as the date and time of the scan. Your MyOwns Code gets encrypted, so that no one, including no one at MyOwns, can create a link to your person and your personal contact data. Only the re-spective company has the key to decode its operating data. Each company has a different key.
TRANSFER - MAY OTHERS USE MY CODE?
No. Your MyOwns code is your very own personal code and therefore not transferable. Each person needs his/her own MyOwns Code and must therefore register with MyOwns once. Of course, anyone can take over the registration for small children, handicapped or elderly people. However, the contact data entered must be that of the concerned person.
DURATION - HOW LONG IS MY CODE VALID?
Your MyOwns code never expires. It is valid for life. You no longer need to register in various lists on paper or online if the company participates in the MyOwns guest registration.
MY CODES - MAY I USE DIFFERENT CODES FOR GUEST REGISTRATION?
Better not. On the MyOwns website, we have marked the code to be used in the "My Codes" section with the text "Guest Registration". Please use only this code for this procedure. You can use the other codes for other MyOwns ser-vices.
